What Ghost Works is
An independent software company building infrastructure for the AI development era. Our flagship product, x-Arbiter, is a governance layer that keeps AI-generated code aligned to the vision and standards of the people directing it — enforced locally, on every write, without your code leaving your machine.
We are small and pre-revenue, and we are focused on getting the governance layer right before we chase growth. That is a real constraint, not modesty. It is why there is no hiring budget today.
How we work
This is the part you cannot learn from a job board, so it is the part worth writing down.
We govern our own work with our own tooling
x-Arbiter runs on x-Arbiter. Every hook, rule, and review that applies to a customer applies to us first. If a governance idea cannot survive being pointed at ourselves, it is not ready to ship.
Human-led, AI-executed
We use AI heavily and we are explicit about who decides. The human sets the direction and holds the override; the AI executes inside it and declares ambiguity rather than filling it. Working here means being comfortable directing AI rather than being replaced by it or pretending it is not there.
Claims do not outrun implementation
We describe what is built, not what is planned. This page saying we are not hiring, and our product site saying x-Arbiter has not been released, are the same commitment applied in two places.
Local-first, by architecture
Enforcement runs on the developer's machine. Code never leaves it. That constrains what we can build and we accept the constraint rather than designing around it.

You are welcome to. We read everything, though we cannot promise a fast reply, and we will tell you plainly if there is nothing to discuss.
A message worth sending usually has a point of view in it — something you think we have got wrong, a problem in this space you have lived with, or work of yours that shows how you think. A CV with no context is the least useful thing you can send us, because it tells us what you have done but not how you decide.
